Sky Box

A Sky Box is the main piece of equipment you will need in order to start receiving Sky TV. Whether you have decided to subscribe to a Sports Pack or a Movies pack, or a bundle that focuses on documentaries, you’ll need a Sky TV box in order to decode the signal that Sky sends to your TV. Sky boxes come in three varieties at the moment, corresponding to the sort of signal you will be receiving. For example, if you decide that you would like to take advantage of Sky’s innovative Sky+HD Box service (which Sky says will provide you with five times as much picture detail as normal TV – so long as you have a suitable HD TV to view it on!), you will need a specific HD digibox to view it. If you just want classic Sky, you’ll need the standard Sky box, which is a little less expensive. Finally, if you want Sky Multiroom you will need a Multiroom box at the heart of your new system.

Each sky box will be fairly similar to install, and you can choose your Sky Bundles based on the service that is best for you. To make things a little less complicated, this article is a quick summary of how you can get ready for your new Sky box. For more information, and for the official lowdown on the equipment, you may want to visit http://www.sky.com/shop/help-guides/tv-boxes/. Sky is always happy to help their customers, and since their service is still quite exclusive their customer service is generally very good. If you can’t find the information you are looking for, you can always call them or email them using the contacts on their website. Alternatively, take a look at the article on this site about contacts at Sky!

Sky Digital Box

When you sign up, you are guaranteed that Sky will ensure that there will be someone to install your chosen TV package for you, and make sure it works. To prepare for your installation though, you may want to do some of the following things:

Make sure you have an extra mains socket near your TV for your Sky Box. Make sure you have a working phone line within 10 metres of your TV (so that your skybox or router can connect to the internet if necessary).

Ensure that the Sky engineer will have somewhere to park when he arrives. Decide where you want your Sky Dish to be on the outside of your house. Other than that, you can be pretty certain that Sky will take care of everything for you. Sky boxes are not hard to operate, and when you get your Sky TV box you will be shown how to do it. The chances are that you already have a digibox of some sort (because almost everyone has changed over to digital TV these days) – and you will find that your new Sky box will work in much the same way.
